These are photos I took for one of my favorite families – my brother’s!  We met at McDowell Nature Preserve and although it was calling for rain, we managed to wrap things up just as the first drops fell.

These pictures were taken at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.  This client donated their fee to a Special Care Nursery for Orphaned Babies.  This project underwrites the cost of continuing operations for a Special Care Nursery Room for medically-fragile infants at the HTS China Care Home in Beijing. Summer Days

I love the mood of these photos. I think that this session really captured the feeling of a southern summer evening.

Mountain Girl

I got to visit my brother and his family at their new mountain home in Virginia a few weeks ago.  We happened to be there for my niece’s 8th birthday, so I did a little birthday shoot for her.  It almost didn’t happen – we were so busy that I was about to put it off until our next visit. I took these pictures in the last half hour of our visit – the kids were playing in the water and she ran inside real quick and got ready.  We took some pictures of her dressed up, and then I told her I wanted to do some “mountain girl” photos.  All of my favorites came from that part of the shoot.  She is a mountain girl through and through.

 

There is a reason she is looking at her arm in that last picture! 

I love that girl. 

Launch Party

I had a launch party last night for Small and Simple Things Photography.  I was so happy that some of my friends got to come and celebrate to opening of this business with me.  Here is a video I made to spread the word about why I love photography and why I want to give to others, even if it is just a little bit.

April Wildflowers

Two beautiful girls chasing butterflies in a field of flowers.  What more can I say?  We had so much fun, and I think that the photographs reflect that.

Baby J, Firefighter

I got the chance to take pictures of baby J shortly after his first birthday.  His mom found a great vintage firetruck to take pictures with and he did the rest.  He was just getting the hang of walking and when I was able to capture some steady steps on camera, we were all grinning hard enough to make our cheeks hurt.  It was a magical moment and I was so excited to capture it.

 

 

This was my first “paying” customer for Small and Simple Things Photography.  Baby J’s mom chose to donate her fee to help Afghan women deliver their babies safely.
